Today I found something adorable on the Internet, and I feel like I'm the last one to the party.
Food made out of felt.
More specifically, fruit made out of felt.

Where have I been?
How have I not seen felt fruit before now?
I have a good friend who makes felted purses, and they are gorgeous works of art that happen to be very useful too. I can justify buying one of her purses, but do I need felt fruit?
Even though I've made a goal to to simplify my life -- to only buy the neccesities for awhile -- I find myself wanting to buy bushels full of felt fruit. What is it about them that makes me feel warm & fuzzy? (Maybe it's the fact that they are made from wool, for starters!)
My sons are all adults now, but I was thinking how much I would have enjoyed making these as toys for my boys when they were little. If you're the crafty-type, you can buy patterns and make them yourself.

The perfect toys. No plastic, nothing to break, no batteries.
Just wait until I have grandchildren, and then watch out. I'll finally have a good excuse to start buying bunches of felt fruit.

I can't resist one more photo, of something a bit more sophisticated.
Check out this not-inexpensive bowl of felted fruit from 2 sisters in Latvia. Something tells me these are worth every penny.

For now I think I'll just have fun window-shopping on the Internet, and concentrate on preserving the real thing in jars.
